"Volume" is the share of a keyword's downstream traffic that is generated by visiting an individual site after a user does a search.

For example, if the volume of traffic from keyword "cars" to cars.com is 25.50%, that can be read as, "25.50% of the searches for the word "cars" result in a referral that takes users to cars.com".
